Styling | Back To College

So last week I started back at college after the Christmas break and also got my exam results! Initially, I wasn’t happy to go back with the thoughts of results being released and the dreaded build up of assignments. I loved the time off, I had just about one month off and I needed it after the stress of final year exams and assignments. But now I am back for my last ever semester as an undergraduate (hopefully!) and I thought there would be a great time to show you guys some back to basics and some of my favourite college looks and outfit picks.

After the Christmas and in January everyone seems to be broke! I am going to show you today how to utilise what’s already in your wardrobe along with some key spring items that you could invest in if you like to create some college outfits.
College: Tartan Blouse
Tartan was one of the key trends for A/W 2013 and I still think it will be with us until the spring, or I am hoping it will! A tartan shirt or blouse is nearly something that everyone has in their wardrobes and for college wear it is an essential. You could wear it loosely unbuttoned over a tank and skinny jeans or for a more edgy look, team it with a leather look skater skirt, buttoned to the top with a statement necklace or cropped jumper thrown over it with the collar peeking out! If you don’t already have a skater skirt this one is only €12 in New Look and I have also seen them hanging around in Penneys/Primark.
College: pastel Jumper

For my next look my key item is a pastel knitted jumper. I think pastels are going to be big this year and I really love the mono-pastel trend that is on the high street at the moment. Not everyone has a pastel jumper so if you didn’t want to invest you could sub in any of your favourite cosy jumpers that are in your wardrobes! I think a knitted jumper goes with practically everything, whether it is a cropped jumper or a regular one it is a key item for college wear. I always wear mine with high waist shorts, thrown over skater skirts and dresses and of course over skinny jeans! You just have to think what do I already have and how can I make it look completely different! That’s why I make these little outfit collages; it gives me and hopefully you some inspiration on how to style your favourite items in new ways!

So there you have it, my two go to College outfits which are really a lot more seeing all of the pieces are very interchangeable! What is everyone’s go to college pieces? What trends do you love this season? Thanks again for reading and I hope you like the post! I also set up a new twitter account for my blog a few days ago it’s here if you want to follow me and keep up to date with all my posts!
