Styling | Race Day Inspiration

Student race day is on tomorrow at Leopardstown racecourse so I thought this would be the perfect time to put together a styling post inspired by the races. I personally know that finding something to the races can sometimes pose to be a difficult task. We are presented with the dilemma of finding the perfect dress, shoes and accessories to impress on the day, while trying to stay weather appropriate. In Ireland this is quite difficult seeing one minute we could have blistering sun followed by intervals of hail and gust force winds. This makes dressing for any day difficult, never mind the races where we will be parading around in the muck, trying to prevent our heels sinking into the ground! So today, I have two different looks to give you lot some race day dressing inspiration. I tried to create something for everyone here, so I hope at least one look is to your liking and makes the task of dressing for the races that little bit easier!

Race Day Fashion

My first look is a rather girly and bright outfit, with complete focus one this gorgeous sunshine yellow dress! I saw this dress at the weekend when I was in H&M and fell in love with it, but sadly they didn’t have it in my size. Here, I have teamed it with navy accessories from H & M. I love these chunky heels and I think they would be a perfect alternative from black for the warmer months. This dress would be perfect if we were gifted with a warm sunny day void of our regular rain and hail shower intervals. This outfit would also be a great look for a summer wedding or even a communion or confirmation that you have coming up. It is quite a simple and sophisticated look that could take you through many different occasions.
Race Day
For my second look I have gone for something completely different to the first. I have chosen this royal blue chiffon dress from River Island. This look is a bit more dressier and grown up compared to the bright yellow dress above. If I were to wear this to a special occasion I would team it with black patent accessories and subtle gold jewellery. It would also look great with a black fascinator, but sadly I couldn’t find any online! Does anyone know of a good affordable hat website for special occasions?

Thanks for reading and I hoped you enjoyed the different looks and they give you inspiration for whatever special occasion you have coming up! Whether it is the races, a wedding or even a dressy garden party! Is anyone else going tomorrow? I really hope the rain holds off!
